Tim Vyner: World Games

Tim Vyner: World Games / Bankside Gallery, 25–29 November 2009

Last night I went to the opening of Tim Vyner’s new show of paintings at the Bankside Gallery in London. Tim was my illustration tutor for 3 years at Bath and a massive influence during my time there. His talent as an artist is exceptional and his latest show is nothing short of stunning.

The painting shown above is actually from a few years ago and not in the current exhibition, but shows Tim’s wonderfully naive & charming style and his real eye for colour. The show on in Bankside for the next few days is the result of his trip to the Beijing Olympic games and features some truly beautiful artworks. There’s also some paintings of London that document how the city is already changing in preparation for 2012. I love his treatment of street scenes and store-front typography, all rendered with a subtle and exquisite touch. Definitely one to check out.
